BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team outlasted the No. 17 UCLA Bruins, 4-2, Friday in NCAA Tournament Super Regional action at Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Maroon & White became the lone team to advance to the last fourth Elite Eights in the NCAA Tournament. Texas A&M plays the winner of Tennessee versus Virginia in the quarterfinals Thursday, May 15 in Waco, Texas.

With all eyes upon them, Mary Stoiana/Mia Kupres closed out No. 14 Kimmi Hance/Elise Wagle, 6-3, to gain the doubles point for the Aggies.
No. 1 Stoiana made quick work of No. 31 Lutkemeyer, 6-0,6-2 on court 1 to improve the Aggie lead, 2-0.
Looking to cut the deficit, UCLA's Bianca Fernandez defeated Reed, 6-3, 6-3 on court 6, to make things 2-1.
No. 67 Kupres routed No. 62 Wagle, 6-1, 6-4, on court 3 to bring the Aggies one point from the win, 3-1.

No. 51 Perez brought her clutch gene and closed out No. 39 Kate Fakih, 7-6(3), 6-1, on court 4, to give the Aggies the win. The Lima, Peru, native also clinched Texas A&M's regular-season SEC title with her victory against No. 1 Georgia in April.
With her win today, Stoiana finished 47-0 in dual action at Mitchell Tennis Center, concluding her legendary career at home.
Head Coach Mark Weaver
On the victory …
"I thought we played well today. I give UCLA a lot of credit, I knew it was going to be a tough match and it ended up being a little tougher than I had imagined, they played really well today. I'm really proud of the girls, it was really a gritty performance by us. I think the doubles point really went a long way for us and I was very pleased with our group today.
On Lucciana Perez's performance …
"Great job by Lucciana today. She really responded well after a tough go against Santa Barbara last week. We had heart-to-heart talk after that and I challenged her with some things and she had a great response this week. She was a hero one again today."
Sophomore Lucciana Perez
On her match and clinching the win …
"From the beginning we knew it was going to be a battle and we just kept reminding ourselves to keep fighting for ourselves, for each other. Everyone really showed up. Daria [Smetannikov] was really key for me because if she kept fighting (in her match) then I continued fighting, which was really nice to see."
Senior Mary Stoiana
On her performance in her final home match …
"The win feels great. I feel like I was really locked in from the start with it being my last match at home, I wanted just focus on one thing, enjoying it and being super grateful that I had all of the opportunities to come out here and compete in front of the 12th Man over the last four years. I'm really pleased that it went my way, pretty smooth and convincingly."
