One of the most versatile members of the Texas A&M athletics department, Brad Marquardt has handled the publicity efforts for virtually every varsity sport at some point during his 30-plus years in Aggieland. He currently serves as the Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Communications and oversees the publicity efforts for the men’s basketball team.
An award-winning journalist, six of his Marquardt’s publications have earned “Best in the Nation” honors from the College Sports Communicators, and he’s earned more than 25 publication awards during his career. His publicity campaigns have helped multiple Aggies win national awards, including the Heisman Trophy, and garnered dozens of All-America citations.
Marquardt has served as the media director for a variety of conference, regional and national events, and assisted with the media operation at 28 bowl games. He served as the Media Director at the 2009 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships and the 2011 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships. In the Spring of 2013, Marquardt was the Media Director at the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, which was the first SEC Championship hosted by Texas A&M.
A 1988 graduate of Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in marketing, Marquardt began his career in communications as the assistant editor of The Georgia Bulldog magazine where he served under CoSIDA Hall of Famer Claude Felton and current Allstate Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley from 1989-90 before returning to Texas A&M. Marquardt was a student assistant in the A&M sports information office from 1987-89, learning the craft from sports information legends Ralph Carpenter and John “Ranger” Keith.
The son of Glenn and Barbara Marquardt of Boerne, Texas, Marquardt married the former Jenny Green in 2010 and the couple have five children: Cameron and Daniel Marquardt and Cody, Ashton and Penny Green.
