No. 12 Aggies Sweep Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford
Mar 23, 2025 | Men's Tennis
OXFORD – The No. 12 Texas A&M men's tennis concluded a perfect 2-0 weekend on the road with a sweep against Ole Miss, 4-0, at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center on Sunday. The Aggies knocked off the Vanderbilt Commodores, 4-3, in Nashville on Friday.
Senior Luke Casper clinched the win for the Aggies after battling Benjamin Martin on court 4. After starting both sets behind his opponent, Casper used his veteran skills to slowly chip away the lead and take the advantage, securing the sweep against the Rebels, 6-4, 6-4.
Texas A&M (14-5, 7-1 SEC) started the match in an advantage across all three doubles courts against Ole Miss (11-8, 2-7 SEC). Striking first was duo Luke Casper and Ritesh Patil on court 3 against Noah Schlagenhauf and Loan Lestir, 6-4. With the last two courts tied up 5-all, the doubles tandem of Alan Magadan and Tiago Pires won two straight games on court 2 to secure the doubles point versus Benjamin Martin and Matthieu Chambonniere, 7-5. Both duos who tallied wins for the Aggies have not played together this season.
Senior Alan Magadan came into singles swinging with a 6-0 first set against Isac Stromberg on court 2. Starting the second set after a weather delay, Magadan faced an early break but battled back to win six sets, while only giving one to his opponent, 6-3. The McAllen native has yet to drop a match since joining the squad in late-February.
No. 32 Theo Papamalamis faced a back-and-forth battle in the first set versus Schlagenhauf on court 1. Facing a 5-all tie-up, the freshman won two straight games to secure the first set, 7-5. Building off that momentum, he dominated in the second set to put the Maroon & White on point short of the win, 6-1.

Coach's Quotes
Head coach Steve Denton on coveted doubles point…
"I thought Luke and Ritesh stepped up and played well together today. They started us off strong against a duo with a winning record at line 3. Alan and Tiago were both exceptional today to round out our doubles action."
Denton on the difficulty of road matches…
"Again, it is always tough on the road. While the score was 4-0, there were a lot of tight moments. I have to give credit to Ole Miss for always fighting to the end."
Denton on the effect of the weather delay on today's match…
"Conditions were tough today with the rain delay. We had used the momentum from the doubles in our singles line at each court today, so it hurt to pause that. But after the break our guys seized the momentum again, which propelled us to the win today. It capped off our road swing with a couple of tough wins."
