Borovilos Leads No. 5 Women’s Golf After Two Rounds at Jim West Challenge
Oct 19, 2025 | Women's Golf
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Sophomore Vanessa Borovilos carded a 6-under 138 thru the first two rounds of the Jim West Challenge Sunday to lead the No. 5 Texas A&M women's golf team into second heading into the final day at the Kissing Tree Golf Club.

"I thought we played well after making some adjustments this afternoon," head coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "Pretty much everyone played better in the second round which is all you can ask for. I am excited to see how we come out tomorrow in this position. To make up some ground, we are definitely going to have to get off to a good start Monday."

The Aggies fired a 6-over 294 during the morning round and were in fourth but turned in an 8-under 280 to finish the day in solo second. Texas A&M's second round was the second best of any team in the field. Florida State led the tournament at 9-under 567 and Oklahoma, Houston, Texas Tech and TCU rounded out the top five.

Borovilos turned in a pair of 3-under 69 rounds to secure her a share of second before Monday's final round. Texas Tech's Maja Ambroziak led the individual leaderboard at 7-under 137, one shot ahead of Borovilos. The Canadian carded just one bogey in each of her first two rounds and eight total birdies on the day.

Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio went 1-under 143 thru 36 holes and tied for 10th. Louise Reau had her first taste of stroke play for the Aggies and produced two 2-over 74 rounds to hold a piece of 31st.

Freshmen Natalie Yen and Brynn Kort both rebounded from over-par rounds in the morning to shoot 1-under 71 and 2-under 70, respectively, in the afternoon. Yen was tied for 35th and Kort had a share of 46th. Sky Sudberry, competing as an individual, was tied for 15th after shooting a 4-under 68 in the second round.
