No. 8 Aggies Drop First Match of Season at No. 10 SMU, 3-0

DALLAS – The No. 8 Texas A&M volleyball team dropped its first match of the season at No. 10 SMU Tuesday evening at the Moody Coliseum, 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-19).
Texas A&M's (5-1) undefeated streak came to an end in a top-10 matchup with the Mustangs (6-0). The Maroon & White battled late into frames, however the hosts held up and won the contest.
SMU started the match on the front foot, creating a four-point lead out of the gate. The Aggies countered with four of their own, as the teams began to trade blows with Texas A&M holding a one-point gap at the media timeout (15-14). The Mustangs recaptured their early pace and closed the opener, 25-20.
The teams traded points to open the second frame, as they were knotted on five occasions to seven all. SMU took the momentum in the set and pushed out to a three-point lead at the media timeout, 15-12. The hosts continued their streak and doubled their advantage in the match (25-14), 2-0.
Texas A&M continued to battle in the third frame, once again finding level with SMU throughout the beginning stages of the set to be tied at 14. The Mustangs however forged separation following a break, closing out the set (25-19) and match, 3-0.

The Maroon & White close their road stint in Fort Worth, as they face TCU tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
