COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies begin play in their sixth College World Series as they battle the No. 6 Louisville Cardinals in a 1 pm contest Sunday at TD Ameritrade Park.
The Aggies are currently on their longest NCAA Championship win streak with their five-game run. Texas A&M became the first No. 3 or No. 4 seed team to go ever 5-0 in Regional and Super Regional action. The win streak has been sparked by NICK CHORUBY who is batting .500 (11-for-22) with seven RBI. The bullpen has been stout in the postseason, logging a 2-0 record with four saves, a 1.83 ERA and 21 strikeouts (3 BB) in 19.2 innings.
Head coach ROB CHILDRESS enters College World Series play with 499 career wins. With more win he joins Mark Johnson (876) and Tom Chandler (660) as Aggie coaches to rack up 500 wins.
CORBIN MARTIN will get the start on the mound for the Aggies. In his 12 starts in 2017, Martin is 6-1 with a 3.01 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 68.2 innings.
BRADEN SHEWMAKE, who has earned All-America accolades from everyone who hands them out along with being named SEC Freshman of the Year, is hitting .335 (89-for-266) with 47 runs, 17 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 68 RBI. Shewmake ranks 15th in the nation in RBI (68) and 19th in the nation in hits (89). He leads all Division I freshmen in hits and RBI.
