COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 23 Texas A&M Aggies renew their current longest active rivalry Tuesday as they welcome the Rice Owls to Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park for a 6:02 p.m. game.
The Aggies and Owls have met every season since 1974 and since 1936 the only year the squads the two teams didn't meet on the diamond was 1973. Texas A&M owns a 181-96-2 edge in the series.
Texas A&M will send Corbin Martin to the mound for his first start of the season. The junior northpaw is 2-2 on the year out of the bullpen with a 4.67 ERA.
Braden Shewmake continues to lead the Aggies at the plate. The freshman is hitting .404 and ranks second in the nation in hits (38), seventh in total bases (61), 13th in doubles (10) and 15th in RBI (26).
The Aggies are making their first appearance on the SEC Network in 2017. Jason Benetti (play-by-play) and Ben McDonald (color analyst) will be on the call.
