Mar 02, 2017 | Baseball
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies head to Houston to participate in the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic at Minute Maid Park beginning Friday. It marks the Aggies ninth trip to the tournament.
Texas A&M will face three Big 12 teams at the tournament, including a pair of teams ranked in the top 25. Friday's contest pairs the Aggies with No. 19 Texas Tech. Saturday's game features Texas A&M and No. 1 TCU. The Maroon and White wrap up the tournament Sunday with a game against Baylor.
The Aggies own a 14-10 record in the tournament and won the crown in 2015 with wins against Nebraska (2-1), Houston (6-0) and Baylor (3-2). In previous trips to the tournament, A&M has gone 2-1 on four occasions and 1-2 three times. This marks the first time the Aggies won't play either Houston or Rice at the tournament.
Texas A&M has been mauling teams from the fifth inning on, outscoring opponents 67-14 after the fourth frame. In the first four innings, the Maroon and White are nursing a 24-14 advantage on the scoreboard.
All of the games will be televised on either the Fox Sports Networks regional channels or on FS2. Every game of the tournament will be available on FoxSportsGo which provides events digitally to subscribers on smartphones, computers, tablets and connected devices.
