COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 13 Texas A&M Aggies open SEC play Friday evening as they host the Kentucky Wildcats in a three-game series on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies own a 13-1 record on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park in 2017. The Maroon and White boast a .330 batting average, .431 on-base percentage and .497 slugging percentage on Olsen Field. Blake Kopetsky is hitting .419 (18-for-43) with a .500 on-base percentage, 12 runs, two doubles, two triples, six RBI and four stolen bases at Blue Bell Park. Braden Shewmake is hitting .419 (26-for-62) with 15 runs, six doubles, one triple, one home run, 20 RBI and six stolen bases in his 14 home games. Brigham Hill is 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 23 strikeouts over 18.2 innings of work in his three home starts.
Shewmake leads the nation in doubles with his 10 two-baggers. He also ranks sixth in doubles (10) and total bases (54), 15th in RBI (23) and 25th in runs (21). The freshman is batting .415 on the season.
The Aggies have claimed three of their four opening SEC series, including home sweeps of Georgia (2013) and Auburn (2015). In 2014, the Aggies lost two of three to start league play at Auburn. In 2016, Texas A&M won two of three to start league play at Auburn.
