COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies look to start a season 4-0 for the fourth consecutive season as they host the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks in a 6:32 p.m. contest Tuesday on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
Each of the last three seasons, the fourth win came against the Lumberjacks. The Maroon and White are 24-1 all-time against SFA.
Texas A&M is coming off a monumental opening weekend in which the Aggies outscored the Falcons 50-8. It marked the most runs ever scored by the Aggies in an opening weekend and the first time the Maroon and White won all three games of a series by 10 or more runs since the 1999 season
The game will be available for viewing on SEC Network + with Will Johnson and Mark Johnson on the call. Freshman John Doxakis takes the mound for his first career start. He pitched one scoreless inning in his collegiate debut in the series finale against Bowling Green.
The Aggies had six freshmen combine to hit .550 (22-for-40) with 20 runs, four doubles, two triples, two home runs and 18 RBI in the series sweep of Bowling Green. SEC Freshman of the Week Braden Shewmake batted .462 (6-for-13) with three runs, two doubles and eight RBI, including four in his debut. Jorge Gutierrez reached base in seven of his eight plate appearances going 4-for-5 with three walks, five runs, one triple, two home runs and three RBI.
