Oct 27, 2017 | Football
COLLEGE STATION- Texas A&M's Corps of Cadets will march through West Campus on Saturday, October 28, providing the 12th Man an opportunity to experience the pageantry of the Corps prior to the football team's game against Mississippi State at Kyle Field. It is the first time in its 141-year history that the Corps has marched through West Campus prior to a football game.
"We are excited about the opportunity for the Corps of Cadets to march to West Campus for the first time, where literally thousands conduct their tailgates," said Col. Bryan Stebbins '78, the Chief of Staff for the Corps of Cadets. "This will be the first opportunity we have had to conduct a Corps March-In to West Campus, and we look forward to showcasing our cadets to all the Aggies tailgating out there. The weather is supposed to be great, and we look forward to seeing everyone on both Main Campus and West Campus this weekend for the Corps March-In to West Campus."
The Corps forms on the quad at 4 p.m., then will Step Off after the cannon fires at 4:20 p.m. The Corps will march through the Aggie Fan Zone then cross Pickard's Pass into West Campus at 4:35 p.m.
The Corps, including Parsons Mounted Cavalry, will march around Reed Arena, while the Fighting Texas Aggie Band plays at the West Campus Reviewing Stand, on Olsen Boulevard near the Rec Center, where fans can enjoy their performance while tailgating. The Corps returns through Pickard's Pass and the Aggie Fan Zone at approximately 5 p.m., giving several opportunities to view the festivities prior to the football game, which kicks at 6:15 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to arrive on campus early to view the march-in. Fans parking on West Campus should get plan to get to their lots early to avoid anticipated traffic delays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. A map of the route can be found here.
