COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M's new "clear bag" policy for Kyle Field and all home athletics venues beginning this fall aims to speed up gate entries and enhance fan safety.
Aggies and visiting fans are asked to be clear on the new bag policy before attending a home athletics event in Aggieland. The "Be Ready. Be Clear. Be Fast." policy will limit the size and style of bags carried into athletics venues to aid in maintaining safe and secure environments, decreasing the wait time to enter the venues, and improving the overall gameday experience.
The clear bag policy will be in effect beginning in August of this year for all ticketed Texas A&M athletics venues, regardless of sport.
"We are being proactive in enhancing the safety of our venues and expediting the security screening process in adopting a clear bag policy that several colleges, the NFL, and other sports and entertainment venues have already implemented," said Mike Caruso, associate athletics director for game operations. "Many of our fans are familiar with the clear bags, as we play football in AT&T Stadium at Arlington each year and also played at NRG Stadium in Houston and Nissan Stadium in Nashville last season."
Several Southeastern Conference members will be implementing clear bag policies this season, including Auburn and Florida, with more expected for the 2017 season.
Fans who need to bring items into the venue on gameday, other than what is normally carried in their pockets in adherence with the previous Prohibited Items list, are welcome to do so per the "12-1-1 Gig 'Em Rule" – Either a 12-inch clear bag (12" x 6" x 12") or one clear resealable gallon storage bag can be used per one person. All bags must be clear with a maximum of one logo imprint.
The only non-clear bags permitted are small clutch bags (with or without a strap) that are the size of a hand. Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at designated areas.
