BIRMINGHAM – Three Texas A&M athletes were honored with SEC Athlete of the Week accolades in track and field following the Aggies sweep of team titles during the Charlie Thomas Invitational this past weekend.
Sprinter Devin Jenkins shared the Men's Runner of the Week honor with Christian Coleman of Tennessee while pole vaulter Jacob Wooten and 800m runner Jazmine Fray were each selected for Freshman of the Week honors.
In winning the 200m this past weekend Jenkins recorded a time of 20.58 seconds, which is the current American leader and second on the 2016 world list behind a 20.57 set by LSU's Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake. Jenkins moved to No. 4 on the Aggie all-time list with his effort as he posted a fourth win this indoor season. Jenkins improved upon his previous career best of 20.77 set a week earlier.
Wooten cleared a career best height of 17-11 in claiming a third victory this season. The clearance moved Wooten to No. 4 on the A&M all-time list as he finished ahead of teammates Carl Johansson and Chase Wolfle, who each cleared 17-1. Wooten now shares top honors among collegiate freshmen in the pole vault, matching the height of Deakin Volz of Virginia Tech, and is tied for fourth among all collegians.

Among all SEC runners Fray ranks fourth best. Her time also bettered the previous Aggie school record of 2:07.27 set in 2002 as she ranks No. 2 on the A&M all-time list behind Willard.
