GAME PREVIEW: Houston Baptist
Feb 29, 2016 | Baseball
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 4 Texas A&M Aggies face a stiff test as they look to extend their streak of 20 consecutive midweek victories on Tuesday. They host the Houston Baptist Huskies in a 6:30 pm contest on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
Sophomore Brigham Hill will make his first start of the season. He leads the Aggies' staff with three appearances on the season. Last season, Hill registered a 1-0 record with a 1.46 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 12.1 innings.
The Huskies will throw their ace, senior left-hander Matthew McCollough, Tuesday night in hopes of pulling off the upset.
The game will be available for viewing on SEC Network + with Will Johnson and Mark Johnson on the call. SEC Network + provides digital-only events to SEC Network subscribers through WatchESPN and the ESPN app on smartphones, computers, tablets and connected devices (Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One). All games this season will be broadcast locally on SportsRadio 1150/102.7 The Zone.
The Maroon and White pitching staff is putting up historic numbers early in the season. For the first time since 1907, the Aggies logged four shutouts in the first eight games of the season. A&M registered back-to-back shutouts on Saturday and Sunday, accomplishing the feat for the first time since 2006. It also marked the first time the Aggies posted back-to-back shutouts on the road since the 1995 Coral Gables Regional.
Offensively, the Aggies boast four players batting over .400 led J.B. Moss (.440), Nick Choruby (.429) and Boomer White (.424). Texas A&M is outscoring opponents 72-14 on the season, including 48-4 after the third inning.
