Dec 14, 2015 | Football
DALLAS – Texas A&M sophomore defensive end Myles Garrett (Arlington, Texas) was named to the 2015 AutoNation FWAA All-America Team on Monday, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America.
It is the second first-team All-America citation in 2015 for Garrett, who was also honored by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
One of the nation's most disruptive defenders, Garrett leads the SEC with 11.5 QB sacks, 17.0 tackles for loss (tie) and five forced fumbles, and he ranks in the top five nationally in all three of those statistical categories. He also has 57 tackles, seven QB hurries, a blocked punt and an interception on his 2015 resume.
A 2015 midseason All-America pick by Sports Illustrated and CBSSports.com, Garret was a two-time SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week. He was also a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award (top college lineman) and the Ted Hendricks Award (top defensive end), was a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award (defensive player of the year) and a quarterfinalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy.
