Austin Boggs went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead an 11-hit attack but Oklahoma State outscored No. 10 Texas A&M, 6-5, before 9,803 at Ameriquest Field on opening day action of the Big 12 Tournament.
With the loss, the fifth-seeded Aggies dropped to 39-18 while the Cowboys, the tournament's fourth seed, improved to 34-22.
A&M returns to action on Thursday, when they play the loser of the Texas/Nebraska game at 1 p.m.
The Aggies touched OSU starter Thomas Cowley for a pair of runs to take the lead in the top of the second. Coby Mavroulis singled with one out and scored when John Infate tripled to right with two outs. After Justin Ruggiano walked, Travis Bartek laced a single into left to score Infante.
The Cowboys took the lead in the bottom of the third by pushing across four runs off A&M starting pitcher Jason Meyer. With one out, Meyer allowed a single to Rusty Ryal and loaded the bases when he hit Ty Wright and walked Josh Fields. Jason Jaramillo unloaded the bases with a double to right center and later scored on a double off the wall by Rod Allen.
Boggs and Mavroulis each singled home a run in the top of the fifth to tie the game at four. Bartek started the inning with a double and moved to third on a single by Cliff Pennington.
Boggs struck again in the top of the seventh, delivering a two-out RBI single to left to plate Cliff Pennington. Pennington doubled, also with two outs, on a flyball that was lost in the sun by OSU leftfielder Scott Kirby.
In the bottom of the seventh, OSU answered as Meyer walked Ryal and he was sacrificed to second base. Fields doubled to right centerfield to plate Ryal with the tying run. After an intentional walk to Jaramillo by Meyer, Blake Rampy came on to entice Scott Kirby to hit into a double play to end the inning.
The Cowboys scored the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth. Rod Allen started the inning, reaching second on a two-base error by Cliff Pennington. After Allen advanced to third on a balk by Rampy, he scored on a single through the drawn-in infield by Chris Gutierrez.
Meyer lasted 6.1 innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits. Rampy (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing just the unearned run in the ninth in the final 1.2 innings on the mound.
Cowley (6-3) pitched his second complete game and earning his second win of the season against Texas A&M. He fanned five and walked just one.
