COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men’s swimming and diving team took the lead on day one of the Art Adamson Invitational Thursday.

The Aggies lead with a first day score of 366.5 and are followed by LSU (247.5), Air Force (236), TCU (162), SMU (153.5), and Stanford (56.5).

“It was a really good day and the guys raced really well,” said head coach Jay Holmes. “We had some guys swim a little better than I though they would swim.”

With a strong opening statement, the 200 freestyle relay team of Senior Henrik Lindau, senior Kyle Troskot, sophomore Cory Bolleter, and senior Paul-Marc Schweitzer grabbed first place in 1:18.99, also securing 40 points for the team.

Individual wins helped the Aggies hold their lead as senior Omar Enriquez took first place in 500 freestyle in NCAA ‘B’ time standard fashion (4:23.43). Senior Simon Frank won the 200 IM with NCAA ‘B’ time of 1:48.51. Finally, Troskot won the 50 free with NCAA ‘B’ time cut of 19.69 narrowly beating teammate Lindau, who came in second with ‘B’ cut of 19.90.

“All of our events today went really well and it was fun to see. All we ask our guys to do is race and compete and they did that today,” Holmes added.

The Art Adamson Invitational will resume tomorrow with preliminary swims beginning at 10 a.m. and diving at 12:30 p.m. Swimming and diving finals will begin at 6 p.m. at the A&M Student Recreation Natatorium.
