Texas A&M (2-0) at Houston (0-2)
Sunday, November 17, 2013 - 3:30 p.m.
Hofheinz Pavilion - Houston, Texas

For only the fourth time since leaving the Southwest Conference, and the first time in nearly 10 years, the Houston Cougars and the Texas A&M Aggies face off in women's basketball at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 17 inside Hofheinz Pavilion on the campus of the University of Houston.

The two schools separated by about 100 miles have only played each other three times since the 1995-96 season, the last year of the Southwest Conference. The Aggies played Houston at least two times per year from 1975-96, but have only played three times since.

The Aggies are coming off of a 49-point win against Prairie View A&M, hold Prairie View to 27 points, only the third time the Aggies have held an opponent to under 30 points since 1977-78, and the second time in as many years. Senior Karla Gilbert led the Aggies with 15 points, and junior college transfer Achiri Ade reached double figures for the second straight game.

Jordan Jones posted 10 assists against Prairie View, and ranks third in the SEC in assists and leads the league in steals per game with 3.5.

The game is also a homecoming for Houston North Shore product Courtney Williams and Humble Atascocita product Curtyce Knox, who will play in front of their familes, just like eight players with DFW ties did at North Texas just under a week ago.

Around 50,000 Aggies are members of the A&M Club of Houston, so similar to the strong support of the squad at North Texas, the Aggies should be well-supported in Houston.

The Cougars are coming off of two straight close losses to Mississippi State and Northwestern State, where they were unable to hang with their opponents for a full 40 minutes. Houston is trying to replace career assists leader Porsche Landry, who graduated after an outstanding career.

This game starts a four game stretch that sees the Aggies play away from Reed Arena until Dec. 3. Texas A&M travels to the Paradise Jam Tournament in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. for their next three games Nov. 28-30. However, fans from the Brazos County are invited to watch the Aggies in this game by taking advantage of a bus trip, put together by the Brazos County A&M Club. Details on the bus trip can be found here.
