COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Returning to the friendly confines of its home court after a two-game road swing, the Texas A&M men's basketball team will host Georgia in SEC action at Reed Arena on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The game will be broadcast on FSN with Dave Baker (play-by-play) and Larry Conley (commentary) calling all the action at Reed Arena. Many viewers in the states of Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana can find the game on FS Southwest (Southwest Texas, South Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana) or FS Southwest Plus (College Station, Dallas/Fort Worth) depending on your viewing area. ESPN Full Court and ESPN3 (blacked out in SEC footprint) will also carry the game, check your local listings for availability in your area.

The Texas A&M Radio Network will also carry the game with WTAW (1620 AM) broadcasting locally in the Bryan/College Station area and live audio provided on AggieAthletics.com.

Texas A&M (12-6, 2-3 SEC) comes into the contest looking to shake off a pair of close losses on the road that followed a 2-0 start to league play. The Aggie men's basketball program will also be seeking a milestone 1,300th career victory Saturday as in 101 season on the hardwood Texas A&M owns an all-time record of 1,299-1,183.

Junior guard Fabyon Harris continues his adjustment to the Division I level but is finding his groove offensively. The Chicago native is coming off a career-best 19 point effort during his last outing on Wednesday at LSU.

Harris has reached double-figures in scoring during six of his last nine games and averages 12.2 points per game during SEC play to rank second on the team behind Elston Turner's 15.4 points per contest.

Georgia, meanwhile, enters the weekend with a 7-11 overall record on the season and a 1-4 mark in SEC play. Sophomore guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, a first-team Preseason All-SEC honoree, highlights the Bulldog line-up by averaging a team-leading 17.1 points per contest.

Fourth-year head Coach Mark Fox holds a 57-57 record during his tenure in Athens and has led the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament as recently as 2011.

SERIES HISTORY: GEORGIA

  • Saturday's contest will be the first between Texas A&M and Georgia on the hardwood.
  • Additionally, it will be both Texas A&M's Billy Kennedy and Georgia's Mark Fox first meeting against the opposing program.

 

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

  • The Bulldogs enter the weekend with a 7-11 overall record and a 1-4 mark in SEC play ... UGA is 0-4 on the road this season.
  • Georgia's lone conference win came on Jan. 19 when they defeated LSU 67-58 at Stegeman Coliseum in Athen, Ga.
  • Sophomore guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is the only Bulldog averaging double-figures in points this season, maintaining a 17.1 point per game average ... The Greenville, Ga., native scored 16 points with seven rebounds during the team's last outing, a loss to Florida on Wednesday.
  • Head Coach Mark Fox is in his fourth season leading the Bulldog men's basketball program ... He has a 57-57 record at Georgia and a 180-100 mark in nine seasons as a head coach (previously coached at Nevada) ... Fox guided the Bulldogs to an appearance in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.

HARRIS GETTING OFFENSIVE

After reaching junior college All-America status at the College of Southern Idaho, junior guard Fabyon Harris joined the A&M roster this season and has become a big part of the Aggie offensive attack.

The Chicago native began his A&M career on a hot streak by scoring 14 points in each of the Aggies' first two games before notching 18 points in a win over Prairie View A&M on Nov. 15. Despite his strong start, Harris went through a stretch of growing pains as he adjusted to the game at the Division I level, reaching double figures in only one of his next six games.

However, Harris began to shake off his offensive woes against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Dec. 18 when he notched a game-high 17 points. The performance kick started a string of double-digit points during six of his last nine games.

Harris enjoyed his best scoring performance in an A&M uniform during Jan. 23rd's contest at LSU when he tallying a personal-best 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor.

During SEC play, Harris ranks second on the Aggies with a 12.2 point per game average.

REED ARENA SUCCESS

  • A&M is 66-14 at Reed Arena since the start of the 2008-09 season with a 23-12 mark in conference games.
  • The Aggies are 100-19 (.840) at home since the start of the 2006-07 season and are 133-24 (.847) since the start of the 2004-05 campaign.
  • A&M has won 47 of its last 54 home games against unranked opponents (16 of last 20 in conference play).
  • A&M is 174-65 (.728) in 14 seasons at Reed Arena ... the Aggies were 41-41 the first six years at Reed and are 133-23 since.
  • Texas A&M finished 8-1 in non-conference games at Reed Arena this season ... a loss to Southern on Dec. 22 snapped a seven-game winning streak against non-conference foes at Reed.
  • The Aggies are 108-11 (.908) all-time in non-conference games inside the facility, which hosted its first basketball game in the fall of 1998 ... a loss to Rice on Dec. 22, 2011, snapped A&M's 67-game non-conference home win streak at Reed Arena (which dated back to the start of the 2005-06 season) and 80-game regular-season, non-conference home win streak (which dated back to 2003), both school records.

TEXAS A&M HEAD COACH BILLY KENNEDY

  • Billy Kennedy was named the 21st coach in Texas A&M men's basketball history on May 16, 2011 ... he is a native of New Orleans and has spent 14 seasons as a head coach, with a record of 237-203 ... over the last four seasons, his teams have combined to post a record of 80-38.
  • Over his last eight years as a head coach, Kennedy's teams have averaged 20 wins a season, earned four conference titles and made three trips to the postseason-two to the NCAA Tournament and one in the NIT ... in addition, the Murray State squad which he built before heading to College Station finished the 2012 season 31-2, won the Ohio Valley title at 15-1 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
  • Kennedy's veteran staff in Aggieland has a combined 94 years of collegiate coaching experience and over the last 11 years has been a part of 18 conference titles and 22 postseasons (15 NCAA, 7 NIT).
