COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In the Aggies’ first full season in the Thomas G. Hildebrand DVM ’56 Equine Complex, the Texas A&M equestrian team announces a challenging 2014-15 schedule that includes meets against seven teams from the 2014 National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) National Championships.

Texas A&M will host seven regular-season meets at the Hildebrand Equine Complex before welcoming conference foes Auburn, defending National Champion Georgia and reigning SEC Champion South Carolina to the state-of-the-art center for the SEC Championships just over a year after its grand opening.

The Aggies will also ride in a pair of exhibition meets at home, beginning with the season-opening Maroon & White Scrimmage on Saturday, Sept. 20. The second friendly of the season will take place less than a week later when Alabama travels to College Station for a hunter seat-only meet on Thursday, Sept. 25.

The Aggies and Crimson Tide – who compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) at the Recreation Sports level – will face off immediately after Texas A&M’s first official meet of the season, vs. UT Martin. UT Martin comes into the 2014-15 season fresh off of an NCEA National Championships appearance, marking eight straight seasons of postseason action for the Skyhawks.

Texas A&M takes to the road to face SMU in a nonconference meet on Saturday, Oct. 4, before returning home for a Saturday, Oct. 25, matchup against South Dakota State. The Mustangs ended the 2013-14 season in the NCEA quarterfinals. The show vs. the Jackrabbits will be the Aggies’ final nonconference competition of the fall.

SEC action begins Friday, Oct. 31 for Texas A&M, which will travel to Blythewood, S.C., to ride against reigning conference champion South Carolina. The Aggies and Gamecocks will rematch at the Hildebrand Equine Complex in Texas A&M’s first league meet of the spring on Saturday, Feb. 21.

The Aggies will continue the conference schedule on Friday, Nov. 7, at Auburn, and will rematch in College Station on Saturday, March 14. The Tigers ended the 2013-14 season in the NCEA Semifinals, just one year removed from winning the national title.

Texas A&M closes out the fall slate at home against defending national champion Georgia on Saturday, Nov. 22. The Aggies will also travel to Bishop, Ga., to face the Bulldogs during the spring half of the season on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Kicking off the spring lineup at home, Texas A&M will host New Mexico State – who was the No. 7 seed at the 2014 NCEA National Championships - and Delaware State in a three-meet weekend, Jan. 30-31. An Aggie-Aggie matchup against NMSU will start the weekend on Friday afternoon, and Texas A&M will face DSU on Saturday morning. NMSU and DSU will ride in a neutral meet at the Hildebrand Equine Complex immediately following the Texas A&M-DSU meet on Saturday afternoon.

A meet against former Big 12 foe Baylor in Waco will be the Aggies’ final nonconference competition of the season, on Saturday, Feb. 7. The Bears were the No. 6 seed in the national tournament, and were edged by eventual National Champion Georgia in a one-point battle in the NCEA quarterfinals.

Texas A&M will host its first SEC Championship, March 27-28, at the Hildebrand Equine Complex. All four of the league’s equestrian teams will compete in the bracket-style tournament that includes a championship round and a consolation round.

The NCEA National Championships will take place at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, April 16-18, with the top 12 teams in the country earning spots in the four-round championship.

Each of the Aggies’ home meets will take place at the brand new Hildebrand Equine Complex. Every home meet is free to the public.

Part of the first phase of an $80 million equine initiative project, the Hildebrand Equine Complex becomes the premiere collegiate equestrian facility in the country. The Aggies’ new home includes locker rooms, offices, a concessions building, a 50-stall barn, two covered warm-up arenas and two covered competition arenas.
