COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M equestrian Associate Head Coach Linzy Woolf announced today the signing of Kai DeVoglaer to a National Letter of Intent to compete with the Aggies.
DeVoglaer (Austin) is a senior at Lake Travis High School, where she is in the top five percent of her graduating class, academically. She will graduate in the spring before joining the Aggie hunter seat squad for the 2014-15 season.
“Kai will be a great addition to our hunter seat team in the fall,” Woolf said. “She is a talented catch rider, which we were able to discover through our summer camp, and that is important in college equestrian. I’m looking forward to adding Kai to our roster.”
DeVoglaer qualified for both the Maclay Regional and United State Equestrian Federation (USEF) Medal Finals this year. She was also the Zone 7 Junior Equitation Champion and the Zone 7 Large Junior Hunters Champion this year. DeVoglaer took honors as the 2013 Texas Hunter Jumper Association (THJA) Junior Equitation Champion and was the Children’s Equitation Champion at the same event in 2011. She trains with Kelly Lorek at Madrone Ranch Stables.
The LTHS senior is a member of the National Honor Society and the FFA, and is a National Merit Scholar. She plans on majoring in biomedical sciences.
DeVoglaer becomes the Aggies’ seventh signee this year, joining Courtney Weisbart (reining), Jaci Marley (reining), Rachael Hake (hunter seat), Avery Ellis (western), Kristen Mohr (hunter seat) and Emily Davis (horsemanship) in the Aggie equestrian class of 2018.
