COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M equestrian Head Coach Tana McKay announced today the signing of Jaci Marley to a National Letter of Intent to compete with the Aggies.

Marley (Plainview, Texas) is a senior at Plainview High School, and will begin competition at Texas A&M during the 2014-15 season. She will ride with McKay’s reining squad.

“Jaci has proven herself as one of the top NRHA athletes in the country, and we are excited that she is an Aggie,” McKay said. “Her composure under pressure and experience at top-level competitions make her a great addition to our team.”

Marley began riding in major competitions in 2009 on both the Southwest Reining Horse Association and West Texas Reining Horse Association circuits, winning numerous awards on the Youth, Rookie 1 and 2, Limited Non-Pro, Intermediate Non-Pro and Non-Pro levels. Her first major win was in 2010 when she was crowned the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Youth Non-Pro Futurity Champion, and was given the First Timer Award for having the highest score among futurity non-pro newcomers.

Marley also took honors as the 2010 Reserve Champion at the Youth Non-Pro NRHA Derby. She repeated the honors in 2012 and was also the NRHA Youth Non-Pro Derby Champion that year. In 2013, Marley has been a finalist at both the National Reining Breeders’ Classic and the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic Non-Pro Futurity. Her biggest event yet was this summer’s NRHA Derby circuit, where she won Levels 2 and 3, and was Reserve Champion for Level 4. Marley currently ranks No. 5 in the nation among NHRA Non-Pros, and has won every NRHA Derby and Futurity event she has entered.

The standout joins the Aggie reining squad in the fall of 2014, becoming the fifth signee this season. Marley joins Rachael Hake (hunter seat), Avery Ellis (western), Kristen Mohr (hunter seat) and Emily Davis (horsemanship) in the Aggie equestrian class of 2018.
