COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M equestrian rider Leah Chenelle returned for her junior year with three championships and one reserve champion title to her name after a successful summer in the ring.

Chenelle (Hebron, Conn.) was crowned the Adult Equitation Champion at the Vermont Summer Festival. The hunter seat rider was also Champion in the New England Adult Medal and the Marshall & Sterling Adult Medal at Fairfield’s A Show, and she came in second in the Adult Medal at the Lake Placid Horse Show. In each showing, Chenelle competed in a class of about 25 riders.

“After what happened spring semester I didn't know how well I would recover or what the future may hold,” Chenelle said. “These wins this summer meant a lot to me, more than they ever have before because of all that went into recovering. I feel great and I cannot wait to start a new season with my favorite team."

Chenelle competed six times in equitation over fences for the Aggies last season, before an injury in the spring sent her to the sidelines for the remainder of the year. Her score of 85 against SMU tied for third best among Aggie jumpers on the year.

The Texas A&M equestrian team starts the 2013-14 season this Saturday at Kansas State, with action getting underway at 10 a.m. CT. To learn more about Texas A&M Equestrian, log on to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieEquestrian on Twitter.
