COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M equestrian former rider Becca Murray will compete in the 2013 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Collegiate Reining Championship on Saturday at the NRHA Derby Show in Oklahoma City.
Murray, who recently finished her eligibility at A&M at the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Championship in April, was one of four chosen by an NRHA committee to represent Texas A&M at the event. The Burbank, Calif., native will also compete against four riders chosen by the NCEA and four riders chosen by the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) for a total of 12 competitors.
The Collegiate Reining Championship is set to begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday, the final day of the NRHA Derby Show at State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City. The event will be held in the Coliseum, with live scoring and a webcast available at NRHAderby.com.
In her four years at A&M, Murray earned several accolades that include All-America status as a junior. She was also named All-Big 12, Academic All-Big 12 and a Texas A&M Athletics Outstanding Athletics Scholar. This season, Murray was a team captain for the Aggies.
