BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - The No. 6 Texas A&M equestrian team (4-5, 0-4 SEC) dropped a 12-8 decision to 5th-ranked South Carolina (5-4, 4-2 SEC) Saturday at One Wood Farm.

The Aggies earned three Most Outstanding Player awards on the day through Hannah Williams (equitation on the flat), Molli Jacobs (horsemanship) and Lindsey Bernbaum (reining).

The meet started with reining, and the event ended with USC in a 3-2 lead. Becca Murray earned a point for the Aggies with her narrow victory, and Bernbaum picked up MOP honors with a 68-65.5 win.

A&M won all but one head-to-head ride in equitation on the flat, including freshman Hannah Williams' MOP showing. The 4-1 A&M score in flat brought the meet total to 6-4 in the Aggies' favor.

The team was unable to earn a point in equitation over fences and South Carolina pushed back out to the lead at 9-6.

Needing to win all five horsemanship points, A&M entered the final event, horsemanship. Molli Jacobs earned a win in the first ride, later picking up an MOP title. USC won the next point, but Amanda Brightwell quickly responded with a win of her own for the Aggies. A&M was unable to pick up any more victories, and South Carolina improved to 4-2 in Southeastern Conference competitions with the 12-8 win.

A&M also competed in three exhibition rides, sweeping the trio.

Up next the Aggies return to Bryan-College Station for their first home meet of the season on Friday, March 1, vs. Auburn. The Aggies and Tigers will face off at 9 a.m. at the Brazos County Expo Complex. To learn more about Texas A&M equestrian, log on to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieEquestrian on Twitter.
