WACO, Texas-Texas A&M's hunter seat team recorded one of its biggest victories in history on Friday morning, as the seventh-seeded Aggies upset No. 2-seed South Carolina 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the National Collegiate Equestrian Championships at the Extraco Events Center.

The win put A&M (9-7) into the hunter seat semifinals for the second time in three seasons and the third time in program history. The second-seeded Gamecocks also marked the highest-seeded team the Aggie hunter seat squad has ever beaten at NCEAs.

Texas A&M is currently opening competition against No. 3-seed Georgia in the semifinal round. Scoring updates throughout the weekend will be provided on aggieathletics.com and through the Aggies' official twitter feed at @AggieEquestrian. In addition, free live video will be available on collegiateequestrian.com.

Senior Maggie Earle continued her outstanding weekend, opening the scoring with an 11-point win on the flat. After USC tied the score, wins by Haley Buchmiller and Hannah Soibelman pushed the Aggie advantage to 3-1 at the halfway point.

Lia Chafee would tally another A&M victory by claiming the first point over fences, and Earle followed with a 177-point ride that not only set an NCEA school record but clinched the overall team victory. Leah Chenelle then gave the Aggies their final point with a three-point victory.

A&M has won three of five meetings all-time with Georgia in hunter seat, including a 7-5 victory earlier this season in College Station.

Meanwhile on the western side, the top-seeded Aggies are also in the semifinals and are currently facing No. 5-seed South Carolina. In the race for the overall national championship, Texas A&M and Georgia are the only two schools to place both of its teams in the semifinal round, meaning the two schools are likely to finish at the top of the overall standings. The Aggies are seeking their second overall national title, with the first coming in 2002.
