COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The undefeated and top-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team plays host to No. 7 Baylor on Saturday in the final regular-season home show of the year. Show time at the Brazos County Expo Complex is set for 11 a.m. and admission is free.
The Aggies (7-0), who are off to the best start in school history, opened the spring season two weeks ago with a 15-5 defeat of then No. 6 South Carolina. A&M's show against the Bears on Saturday will not be the last home action of the year, however, as the Expo Complex will play host to the Big 12 Championships in early April.
Baylor is 6-5 on the year and has won two of its last three shows. The Bears fell 12-6 to South Carolina, however, in their most recent action two weeks ago.
"We are looking forward to the challenge of a tough Baylor squad this weekend," head coach Tana McKay said. "It's always an exciting and very competitive show when these two teams go against each other, and Saturday will be no different. It's also our last home show for a while, so we hope to continue the momentum we've built up as we get ready to hit the road in a few weeks."
Saturday will mark the second meeting of the season between the schools, with Texas A&M defeating BU 11-8 in Waco on Nov. 12. The Aggies have won three straight regular-season meetings between the schools.
Action will begin with the equitation over fences competition, followed by horsemanship, equitation on the flat and reining. The teams will compete six riders in each of the four disciplines, with a total of 24 points at stake. Live results will be available on aggieathletics.com throughout the day for those unable to attend the show.
A&M will be without one of its top fences riders, senior Brooke Coleman, who is representing the Aggies at the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival's Collegiate Equitation Challenge this weekend in Florida.
The 3,000-seat Expo Complex is located at 5827 Leonard Road in Bryan.
