Brad Marquardt

One of the most versatile members of the Texas A&M athletic department, Brad Marquardt has handled the publicity efforts for virtually every varsity sport at some point during his 25 years in Aggieland. Specializing in football publicity, Marquardt has attended every Aggie football game -- home and away -- since 1995 and his streak of consecutive Aggie games was at 233 heading into the 2014 season.


An award-winning journalist, Marquardt assists in all phases of the Texas A&M media relations operation, concentrating on football and men’s and women’s swimming and diving. An active social media user, Marquardt helps provide content for @aggiefootball and @aggieswimdive on Twitter and on both program’s Facebook pages.


Previously, he served as the editor of the 12th Man Foundation’s alumni publication, the 12th Man Sports Hotline. Five of Marquardt’s publicity campaigns have helped Aggie football players earn national awards - Dat Nguyen (Lombardi Award and Bednarik Trophy in 1998), Von Miller (Butkus Award in 2010), Randy Bullock (Lou Groza Placekicker Award in 2011), Luke Joeckel (Outland Trophy in 2012) and Johnny Manziel (Heisman Trophy, Davey O’Brien Award and Manning Award in 2012). In 2012, a record four Aggies earned first-team All-America honors (Joeckel, Manziel, Damontre Moore and Jake Matthews).


Six of his publications - the 1999 cross country media guide, the 1997, 1998 and 1999 track and field brochures, the 1996 men’s and women’s tennis media guide, and the 1995 Alamo Bowl media guide - have earned “Best in the Nation” honors by CoSIDA, and he’s earned more than 25 publication awards during his career.


Marquardt has served as the media director for a variety of conference, regional and national events, and assisted with the media operation at 21 bowl games. In recent years, he has served as the Media Director at the 2009 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships and the 2011 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships. In the Spring of 2013, Marquardt was the Media Director at the Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, which was the first SEC Championship hosted by Texas A&M.


A 1988 graduate of Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in marketing, Marquardt was the assistant editor of The Georgia Bulldog magazine where he served under CoSIDA Hall of Famer Claude Felton and current Allstate Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley from 1989-90 before returning to Texas A&M. Marquardt was a student-assistant in the A&M sports information office from 1987-89, learning the craft from sports information legends Ralph Carpenter and John “Ranger” Keith.

The son of Glenn and Barbara Marquardt of Boerne, Texas, Marquardt married the former Jenny Green in 2010 and the couple have five children: Cameron (age 19) and Daniel (14) Marquardt and Cody (19), Ashton (17) and Penny (16) Green.
