Aggies Send 19 Swimmers to Olympic Trials

Nineteen Texas A&M swimmers will be chasing their Olympic dreams at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials June 25-July 2 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

Seeking a spot on the 2012 U.S. Olympic team and a trip to the London Olympic Games will be sophomore Ashley Adams, sophomore Camille Adams, senior John Ariens, freshman Kelli Benjamin, senior Alyssa Conner, junior Meagan Hairston, senior Anna Heller, sophomore Sarah Henry, sophomore Breeja Larson, senior Megan Latone, sophomore Caroline McElhany, junior Maureen McLaine, freshman Emily Neubert, junior Christine Regone, junior Jaclin Rehring, 2011 senior Maria Sommer, senior Megan Onstott, freshman Sammie Bosma and sophomore Wylie Escobedo.

Several of the Aggies go into the Trials ranked in the top 10 on the psych sheet. Cammile Adams, the 2012 NCAA runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly, goes to Omaha as the top seed in the 200-meter butterfly and ranks No. 5 in the 400-meter IM. Larson, who set the NCAA and American record in the 100-yard breaststroke, is seeded No. 6 in the 100-meter breaststroke. Henry, who redshirted for the Aggies in 2011-12, enters the Trials as the No. 10 seed in the 400 free.

The Aggies have 11 competitors qualified in multiple races, with Henry and McElhany leading the way with five races each. Henry is qualified in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle, the 200 butterfly and the 400 IM. McElhany is qualified in the 50 and 100 free, the 100 and 200 fly and the 200 IM.

In addition, four members of women's head coach Steve Bultman's incoming freshman class will also compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials: Claire Brandt, Katherine Huff, Romy Landeck and Meredith Oliver.

The swimming competition at the 2012 London Olympic Games will be contested July 28 - Aug. 4 at the London Aquatics Centre.
