Daltonís Runner-Up Finish Paces Aggies

COLUMBIA, Mo. --- Texas A&M junior John Dalton grabbed runner-up honors in the 50-yard freestyle to highlight the Aggie men's second day at the Big 12 Championships on Thursday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

After two days of competition, the Aggies were in second place in the team standings with 267 points, trailing the Texas Longhorns (371.5) by 104.5 points. Host Missouri ranked third with 222.5 points.
 
Dalton turned in a time of 19.72 to place second behind Texas' Jimmy Feigen. Dalton led a 61-point Aggie scoring barrage as sophomore Kyle Troskot tied for fourth at 20.05 and sophomore Henrik Lindau took seventh in the Championship final. The Aggies went 1-2 in the consolation final with Amini Fonua in 20.35 and Austin Wilson in 20.44.
 
Sophomore Simon Frank shined in the 200 IM, breaking the school record in the prelims with a time of 1:46.97 and then placing fifth in the final with a time of 1:47.30. Junior John Wagner tied for sixth in 1:47.49. Frank broke Nikita Denisyako's school record of 1:47.45 set in 2008.
 
Sophomore Paul-Marc Schweitzer placed sixth in the 500 free with a time of 4:23.20, which put him No. 2 on A&M's top 10 list in the race. Also contributing solid points was freshman Luke Shaw, who rallied for a win in the consolation final in 4:25.78.
 
A&M opened day two with a third-place finish in the 200 free relay with the foursome of Fonua, Wilson, redshirt freshman Diego Suarez and senior John Ariens touching in a NCAA "B" cut time of 1:21.17. In the "B" final, the Aggie foursome of Troskot, Dalton, senior Boris Loncaric and Lindau "exhibitioned" a "B" cut time of 1:19.13.
