The No. 18 Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team hosts rival Texas for the final time as a conference opponent Friday at the Student Recreation Natatorium.
The meet will be part of the State Farm Lonestar Showdown, which the Longhorns lead this year 6-1 in spanning all athletic events.
"The gyuys are really looking forward to racing," A&M Head Coach Jay Holmes said. "We'll be challenged by Texas--they're very good this year, and they usually are. Hopefully everyone will be able to make it out and add to a grat atmosphere and enjoy a great dual meet."
The Aggies are 4-1 in dual meets this season and are coming off of their first dual meet loss of the season, a 115-128 contest against the SMU Mustangs. The Longhorns are also coming off their first dual meet loss, a contest versus No. 1 Arizona.
As the final home meet for the Aggies in the 2011-2012 season, the contest will serve as Senior Night for the four senior members of the team. Seniors John Ariens, Amini Fonua, Grant Nel, Paul Xiques and Boris Loncaric will be honored Saturday before the meet.
"Anytime you graduate seniors, they mean a lot to you," Holmes said. "These men have been through a lot of things that weren't easy. It's going to be hard to to replace them."
One of the seniors, Nel, is coming off of his second Big 12 Diver of the Week award this season after sweeping the boards against LSU on Jan. 21. Nel also set a pool record in the 1-meter springboard against SMU with a score of 400.95.
Nel's competition will be in the form of a pair of Longhorn seniors, Drew Livingston and Matthew Cooper, the two of combined for a Longhorn first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards each of their meets this season.
The meet kicks off at 7 p.m.
