OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada --- Texas A&M freshman swimmer Kyle Troskot will represent Canada at the 2011 World University Games in Shanghai, China this summer, Swimming Canada announced.
Troskot, from Lethbridge, Alberta, received the national team invitation after a strong performance at Canada's World Trials March 30-April 2. Troskot placed third in the 50-meter LC freestyle in 23.12 and fourth in the 50 LC butterfly in 24.69. He was also 12th in the 100 LC free prelims with a time of 51.29.
Troskot had a solid first season in Aggieland, earning All-America honors as the anchor leg on A&M's 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. He helped the Aggies to its first victory in the 400 free relay since 1955 by holding off Texas' Dax Hill on the final leg at the 2011 Big 12 Championships. He posted season bests of 19.85 in the 50-yard free and 43.94 in the 100-yard free.
