Texas A&M's Grant Nel and Jay Lerew swept the Big 12 Diver and Dive Coach of the Year after strong 2010-11 campaigns, the conference office announced.

Nel, a junior from Melbourne, Australia, was dominant from the opening Southwest Collegiate Plunge through the NCAA Championships during this school year. He punctuated his stellar season by scoring a school record 50 points with a pair of silver medal finishes and third-place finish at the 2011 NCAA meet at the University of Minnesota.

Other highlights for Nel include his second career Big 12 Championships with his win on the one-meter springboard at the 2011 conference meet, and breaking all three diving records. Nel set the one-meter school record of 426.0 at the Big 12 Championships and the standards of 471.35 on the three-meter and 452.35 on the platform at the NCAA Championships.

Lerew, A&M's second-year diving coach, was named Big 12 Dive Coach of the Year after the Aggies' dive crew sent two divers to the NCAA meet and brought home four All-America citations. In addition to Nel's three top three finishes, junior Cam McLean contributed a fifth-place NCAA finish in the one-meter dive.
