COLLEGE STATION - The second annual Gary Blair Coaching Academy has been set for October 5-6 at the Cox-McFerrin Center at Reed Arena.
Last year’s academy, held in conjunction with the Aggies’ preparation for their trip to Italy, attracted over 150 coaches from all levels.
“It has always been an important part of my philosophy that we do all that we can to help grow our game,” said Texas A&M women’s basketball head coach Gary Blair. “We wanted to start the academy last year with the goal of providing a great weekend where coaches could come and learn at the highest level for a minimum price and we accomplished that.”
The agenda for the academy includes teaching stations, three meals and an academy notebook. The notebook will include complete information on how the Aggies teach the game along with DVDs of last year’s SEC Tournament Championship highlights and video of the academy sessions.
Coaches that register in advance can pay online through the 12th Man Foundation website for only $50. The fee will be $65 for coaches registering the day of the event.
“We’ve worked with our compliance office to keep the cost down to a minimum and still provide a wonderful experience for the coaches,” said Blair. “We were extremely proud of the number of positive responses we received last year, along with requests for us to have another Academy this year. We are working to make it even better than last year’s.”
