DALLAS - Texas A&M women's basketball assistant coach Bob Starkey is among the top assistant coaches in the nation to be featured as a speaker at the annual A Step Up professional development symposium at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel this weekend.

Starkey, a native of Charleston, W.Va., who was named an assistant coach at A&M on April 14, 2012, speaks at the symposium for the third straight year. His presentation this weekend is part of an on-court basketball skills clinic.

Starkey, widely considered one of the top minds in all of college basketball, came to Aggieland after a season as an assistant coach at the University of Central Florida and following 22 seasons at LSU. He attended and was introduced to Aggie fans at the team's annual end-of-season banquet last week at The Zone Club.

A Step Up (Athletic Symposium to Elevate Professionals & Uplift Performance) is a three-day career building and professional development event for assistant basketball coaches, presented by Felicia Hall Allen & Associates. It brings together coaches from all levels of collegiate basketball, as well as athletic administrators and directors of basketball operations. Its' mission is to help gain knowledge, discover coaching insights and develop strategies, techniques and tactics to help them reach their full coaching potential.
