Position: Video Coordinator
Hometown: College Station, Texas
Alma Mater: Texas A&M '11
Email: mvanya@athletics.tamu.edu

No stranger to the Aggie men’s basketball program, Mitch Vanya returned to Texas A&M in the summer of 2013 and is in his first season as the team’s video coordinator.

His main responsibility will be coordinating all of the video edits for the team, including player evaluation and opponent scouting, while assisting in many other administrative tasks.

Prior to assuming his current position at A&M, Vanya spent two seasons working with the NBA’s Houston Rockets where he began as an advanced scouting intern before moving into the assistant video coordinator role under John Cho. In his role with the Rockets, he helped the team prepare for upcoming opponents, which included editing video, creating scouting reports and tracking statistics. He also assisted the Rockets' front office throughout the draft process by evaluating talent and helping put players through pre-draft workouts.

While attending Texas A&M, Vanya served as a student manager and graduate assistant for four years under head coach Mark Turgeon.

Additionally, Vanya played two seasons of junior varsity basketball at Adrian College (Michigan) before transferring back to Texas A&M to receive his degree in sports management in 2009. He also received his master’s degree in higher education administration from A&M in 2011.

Born in Houston, Vanya moved to College Station at a young age and graduated from A&M Consolidated High School.

Vanya is the son of Tim and Kathy Vanya and married the former Megan Stene, Texas A&M class of ’11, in August of 2012. He has a sister, Sarah, who also attended A&M.
