COLLEGE STATION – Riding the confidence and momentum of a big home win, the Texas A&M men’s basketball team is back on the road this weekend when it travels to Athens, Ga., to face Georgia in a 7 p.m. (CT) contest inside Stegeman Coliseum.

The Aggies (13-9) are coming off a 72-52 win over Mississippi State at Reed Arena on Wednesday night which snapped a five-game skid and improved A&M’s SEC record to 4-5 on the year. Georgia, meanwhile, also ending a losing streak of its own by defeating LSU, 91-78, in Athens Thursday night.

Entering the weekend, the Bulldogs sit in a tie for fourth place in the league standings with a 5-4 SEC record, the Aggies, meanwhile, sit just a game back in the conference race.

Saturday’s match-up will be televised on CSS/Cox Sports TV with Matt Stewart (play-by-play) and Nate Ross (commentary) calling all the action. The game will also be streamed on ESPN3.com.

Additionally, the game can be heard on the Texas A&M Sports Network with local coverage in the Bryan-College Station area on WTAW (1620 AM).

During its most recent action on the court Tuesday against MSU, the Aggie offense enjoyed a breakout game as A&M shot over 50 percent from the floor with a sizzling .692 shooting percentage (10-for-26) and 46 points after halftime.

Junior Jamal Jones led the way with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting, breaking the 20-point plateau for the fifth time this season.

Directing the A&M offensive attack, sophomore Alex Caruso who reached double-digits in assists for the second time this season with 10 dimes on the night to improve his SEC-leading total for the season to 106.

Junior Kourtney Roberson was a solid contributor against MSU, finishing with 14 points and six rebounds, while freshman Shawn Smith scored 10 points with three assists.

Georgia snapped a three-game losing streak with its win over LSU Thursday night to improve to 10-2 on the Bulldogs’ home court this season. Fifth-year head coach Mark Fox’s team is led in scoring by sophomore guard Charles Mann, who contributes 13.7 points per game, while Kenny Gaines and Nemanja Djurisic also average double-digit scoring at 11.7 and 10.5 points per contest, respectively.

• Junior Jamal Jones notched a game-high 20 points against MSU to reach the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season ... Jones averages 14.9 points per game during SEC games to rank 15th in the league.

 

SERIES HISTORY VS. GEORGIA (UGA LEADS 2-0)

• Saturday will be the third all-time meeting between the Aggies & Bulldogs on the hardwood.

• Last season, Georgia took both meetings with the Aggies in tightly-contested affairs ... The Bulldogs earned a 59-52 win over the Aggies at Reed Arena on Jan. 26 before completing the sweep with a 52-46 victory in Athens on Feb. 9.

• Aggie guard Fabyon Harris averaged 15 points per contest a year ago vs. the Bulldogs.

• Texas A&M floor general Billy Kennedy is 0-2 against the Bulldogs, while Georgia's Mark Fox is 2-0 against the Aggies.
