BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)--Anthony Hickey scored 10 points and grabbed 8 steals at LSU beat Texas A&M, 58-54, Wednesday night.

The Tigers (10-6, 1-4) attempted 19 more shots than the Aggies (12-6, 2-3) but led for less than 10 minutes.

The Aggies jumped out to a 19-5 lead and held the advantage from the game's opening field goal until the 14:51 mark of the second half, when LSU's Malik Morgan hit his only 3-point shot of the contest.

The lead went back-and-forth until the 2:48 mark, when LSU guard Charles Carmouche stole the ball and raced the length of the court for a fast-break layup. The Tigers would not trail again.

Three Tigers scored in double figures including Hickey. Johnny O'Bryant III scored 14 points and added 10 rebounds, while Shavon Coleman led LSU with 17 points.

LSU was 5-of-23 from 3-point range and just 5 of 12 from the free throw line. LSU was also outrebounded, 38-32.

Fabyon Harris scored 19 points to pace Texas A&M and 9 different Aggies grabbed rebounds.

Texas A&M committed 24 turnovers to LSU's 11, but the Tigers only managed 16 points off turnovers. Five LSU players registered multiple steals, forcing three Texas A&M players to commit four or more turnovers.

● Texas A&M dropped 12-6 this season with a 2-3 mark in SEC play.

● LSU improved to 10-6 on the year with a 1-4 SEC record.

● The all-time series between the schools now stands at 14-11, in favor of LSU.


● Texas A&M shot 45.5 percent during the game (20-of-44), but was guilty of a season-high 24 turnovers.

● The Aggies out-rebounded their fifth straight opponent, holding a 38-32 advantage on the glass.

● The Tigers made 24-of-63 shots for a 38.1 team shooting percentage.


● Junior guard Fabyon Harris led all scorers in the contest, setting a new personal-high with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting.

● Freshman J'Mychal Reese also set a career-high with seven rebounds in the contest.


● Texas A&M led 28-27 after 20 minutes of play.

● The Aggies scored the first nine points of the opening half to force an LSU timeout with 17:39 remaining in the period ... The Tigers did not score their first points until a field goal at the 16:16 mark of the half.

● The Aggies shot 48 percent (12-of-25) for the half... compared to 40.7 percent (11-of-27) for the Tigers.

● Texas A&M owned a 20-13 advantage in the rebounding column.


● The Tiger outscored the Aggies 31-26 after the intermission.

● A&M shot 8-for-19 (41.2 percent) after halftime, compared to 36.1 percent (13-of-36) by LSU.


● The Aggies return to College Station to host Georgia on Saturday in a 5 p.m. contest that will be televised by FSN.

● LSU, meanwhile, travels to Lexington, Ky., to face Kentucky on Saturday.
