Antwan Space Joins Aggie Hoops Program

COLLEGE STATION, Texas-DeSoto, Texas product Antwan Space has joined the Texas A&M basketball program after transferring from Florida State, Aggie head coach Billy Kennedy announced Thursday.

Space, a 6-8, 218-pound small forward, will sit out next year due to NCAA transfer rules and will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2013-14 season. An early injury hampered his freshman season with the Seminoles, where he appeared in 10 games.

"We would like to welcome Antwan Space as a new member of our Aggie family," Kennedy said. "Antwan is a skilled athletic forward that will add another much-needed scoring threat to the future of Aggie basketball."

A 2011 graduate of DeSoto High School, Space averaged 17.4 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 blocks as a senior. He led the Eagles to a 36-4 record and a trip to the regional finals, and was named first-team all-state and district 11-5A MVP for his efforts. Space, a national top-100 recruit out of high school, teamed with current Aggie Keith Davis to lead DeSoto to the 2009 5A state championship.
