Shebeneck is Gatorade Wisconsin Player of the Year

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M volleyball signee Kaysie Shebeneck has been named the 2012-13 Gatorade Wisconsin Volleyball Player of the Year, The Gatorade Company in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports announced today.

It is the second consecutive year the 6-1 setter from Racine, Wis. (Burlington High School) has received the award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court.

A two-time member of the Wisconsin All-State first team, Shebeneck recently capped her high school career by leading the Burlington Demons to a 44-2 record and their second consecutive Division I state title. She also was named to the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association 2012 all-tournament team for the second consecutive year.

A 2011 PrepVolleyball.com High School All-American, Shebeneck has maintained a 4.01 GPA in the classroom and has served as a volunteer on behalf of the Make-A-Wish Foundation in addition to donating her time as a peer tutor and youth volleyball coach.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in the District of Columbia and each of the 50 states that sanction high school football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field, and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade high school sports leadership team in partnership with USA TODAY High School Sports, which work with top sport-specific experts and a media advisory board of accomplished, veteran prep sports journalists to determine the state winners in each sport.
