COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M freshman setter Allie Sawatzky has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week for matches played Nov. 15-21, the conference office announced today.

The 6-2 lefty from St. Andrews, Manitoba, Canada, receives the conference honor for the third time in her career after pacing the Aggies with 10.25 assists and also contributing 2.69 points, 1.0 blocks and 1.88 kills per set while hitting .433 for the week as A&M went 1-1.

In A&M's 3-1 win at Kansas State on Wednesday, Sawatzky dished out 44 assists and directed the Aggie offense to a .271 hitting percentage. She also pitched in nine digs and four blocks -- including one solo block -- as the Aggies posted their second-ever victory in Manhattan.

Sawatzky compiled 38 assists and contributed eight digs and four block assists in a 3-1 loss to No. 16 Iowa State on Sunday. Sawatzky also provided an offensive spark for A&M, tallying nine kills without an error in 18 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage. In addition, she had four blocks and was second on the team with 13.0 points, one point shy of her career high.

Sawatzky and the Aggies (13-15, 7-11 Big 12) return to action Wednesday for a State Farm Lone Star Showdown at No. 8 Texas. First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Gregory Gym in Austin. The Aggies upset the defending Big 12 champion Longhorns, 3-0, when the teams met earlier this season at Reed Arena.

A&M concludes the regular season against fifth-ranked and current Big 12 leader Nebraska on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Reed Arena. The match against the Huskers, who also fell to A&M in their last appearance at Reed Arena in 2009, will be the final Big 12 match ever for Nebraska, which joins the Big Ten Conference next season.

It will be "ResLife Night" on Saturday, and A&M students who show their dorm key will get in free. In addition, the dorm with the most attendees will win a free pizza dinner.
