COLLEGE STATION – The No. 10 Texas A&M men’s tennis team travels to Oxford, Miss., to take on 53rd-ranked Ole Miss Friday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. First serve is set for 2 p.m. (CT) as the Aggies look to remain atop the SEC standings.

Last weekend the maroon and white closed out its home portion of the regular-season by defeating Alabama and Auburn to remain atop the SEC standings with a 9-1 record. SEC Player of the Week Jordan Szabo won all four matches he competed in over the weekend including clinching Friday’s match against the Crimson Tide. Prior to Saturday evening’s match, Texas A&M honored its lone senior Junior Ore for his successful four seasons representing the Aggies.

Additionally, Sunday’s victory marked the third-time A&M head coach Steve Denton eclipsed the 20-win mark since coming to Aggieland in 2007. The nine conference victories are also a program-best, surpassing the tally of the 2001 and 2004 teams. The Aggies finished an impressive 14-0 at the Mitchell Center this spring.

Ole Miss returns to action after defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff in each three separate matches Wednesday at home. The Rebels will celebrate senior Johan Backstrom as well as retiring head coach Billy Chadwick's final SEC home match. Ole Miss is led by junior Nik Scholtz, who enters Friday’s match with a 10-1 record at No. 1 singles, including a 5-1 mark in league play.

A&M boasts three players currently ranked in the latest edition of the ITA rankings. Leading the way for the Aggies is sophomore Harrison Adams at No. 14. Adams is 12-6 overall this spring and 4-1 in league play. Fellow sophomore Shane Vinsant is an impressive 14-3 in dual matches and 6-0 in the SEC to rank No. 21 this week. Junior Jeremy Efferding ranks 51st in the country as the Floridian is 14-6 overall and 5-1 in league action during dual matches this season.

Impressively, all three A&M doubles teams are ranked in this week’s ITA poll. Ore and junior Jackson Withrow have been among the top-10 in every ITA poll this spring, coming in at No. 6 this week. Adams and Vinsant rank No. 64 with Efferding and Szabo just two places behind at No. 66. The Aggies have captured the doubles point in each of their past eight matches.

Two Rebels currently hold spots in the ITA singles rankings as Scholtz and William Kallberg are No. 22 and No. 118, respectively. In doubles rankings, Scholtz and Backstrom are listed at No. 82 while William Kallberg and Stefan Lindmark come in at No. 90.

On Sunday afternoon the Aggies will finish their regular season schedule at 18th-ranked Mississippi State. Stay tuned to AggieAthletics.com and follow @AggieMTEN on Twitter for information regarding Texas A&M men’s tennis.
