Texas A&M to Face Kentucky Friday Night

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 8 Texas A&M men’s tennis team takes to the road for a Friday afternoon match-up with No. 22 Kentucky at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Center in Lexington at 4 pm CT.

The Aggies (11-4, 2-0) return to action after opening SEC play with wins against No. 22 Florida and No. 33 South Carolina last weekend at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. The maroon and white bested the Gators 4-2 Friday evening behind strong play from SEC player of the week Harrison Adams. The New Braunfels native teamed with Shane Vinsant to defeat the Florida’s No. 9 doubles tandem to clinch the doubles point and then defeated No. 65 Spencer Newman.

Following last week’s 2-0 start for the Kentucky Wildcats (9-4, 2-0) join A&M, No. 17 Mississippi State and No. 18 Vanderbilt atop the league standings. The Wildcats claimed two road victories to open SEC play at No. 73 LSU and at No. 66 Arkansas.

Junior Ore and Jackson Withrow sit atop the latest doubles rankings from the ITA, Jeremy Efferding and Jordan Szabo currently place 37th.  A&M’s trio of Adams (No. 11), Vinsant (No. 26) and Efferding (No. 38) are all ranked in last week’s ITA individual rankings. Kentucky’s lineup includes two top-100 players, No. 14 Tom Jomby and No. 99 Beck Pennington.
