LONDON - Texas A&M men's tennis signee Mitchell Krueger reached the 2012 Wimbledon Junior Championships semifinals against fourth-seeded Filip Peliwo of Canada today. Krueger dropped a close match, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Peliwo will advance to the title match against top-seed Luke Saville of Australia.

Krueger is the top-ranked American junior and has been ranked as high as No. 5 in the ITF rankings and is the top-ranked recruit in the state of Texas. Krueger reached the semifinals at the French Junior Championships earlier this year and lost to eventual French Junior champion Kimmer Coppejans of Belgium.

Krueger, the No. 8 seed at Wimbledon and last American in the field, made a terrific run in London which included a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) victory over the second-seeded Coppejans in the quarterfinals.

Krueger, making his first appearance at Wimbledon, started his march to the semifinals with a hard-fought, come from behind victory over Great Britain's Kyle Edmund, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 10-8. In the second round, Krueger disposed of Croatia's Borna Coric, 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) and defeated Italian Stefano Napolitano, the No. 11 seed, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4, before facing Coppejans in the quarterfinals.

Krueger is the son of Myron and Marla Krueger of Aledo and he has a sister, Mandi, who is an Aggie. Krueger competed at Spring Creek Academy in Dallas where he is coached by Dave Licker. Myron Krueger played tennis at Texas A&M under the direction of former head coach David Kent.

OTHER AGGIE NOTES: Aggie head coach Steve Denton is in London ... another Aggie signee, Joshua Ward-Hibbert of Great Britain, played in the first round of the single competition but had to retire.
