HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Texas A&M men’s golf team defeated Colorado 3-2 on Sunday during match play competition at Prairie Dunes Country Club.

“That was a terrific match,” Texas A&M head coach J.T. Higgins said. “Ben and Adria went all the way to 18 while Andrew and Greg’s matches were decided on the 17th hole. It was good to see Johannes play so well and get a win for us in the first match; that always takes some pressure off. The others went back and forth all day and were very competitive.”

Senior Johannes Veerman defeated CU’s Drew Trujillo 5&3 to notch the first win of the day while sophomores Andrew Lister and Adrià Arnaus followed with individual victories, allowing the Aggies to clinch the team win.

Meanwhile, junior Greg Yates and sophomore Ben Crancer dropped close matches during Sunday’s round on the course which will be the site of the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship May 23-28.

“I’m also glad we got a couple rounds on Prairie Dunes,” Higgins added. “It is an incredible course that will crown a deserving champion next month. It’s also a similar course to Sea Island so it was good prep for the SEC Championship next week (April 25-27). All in all, it was a successful trip.”
