COLLEGE STATION, Texas—The No. 7 Texas A&M men’s golf team will stay hard at work during Spring Break as the Aggies head to Las Vegas to compete in the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters March 7-9.

The 13th-annual tournament, hosted by UNLV, will take place at the Southern Highlands Golf Club. The par 72, 7,510 course has been bestowed with honors such as the Nevada Chapter Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Owners Association and a No. 34 ranking in the Golf Digest Index for one of the best modern-day courses in the nation.

“This is the best tournament of the year, so I’m anxious to see how we stack up,” Texas A&M head coach J.T. Higgins said. “I think there are seven top 10 teams here and just about everybody is in the top 25. We’re going to get a really good test and look at where we are at as a team. This weekend will show us what we need to continue to work on if we want to compete for a championship.”

The Aggies, ranked sixth in the latest GolfWeek men’s collegiate poll, are returning to the links after tying for second at a rain-shortened John Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 20-21. Junior Greg Yates led the way for the Aggies in Hawai’i, carding his second straight top-5 finish by tying for fourth in the event.

In addition to Yates, the Aggies will be represented by sophomores Ben Crancer, Andrew Lister and Adrià Arnaus and junior Ty Dunlap while senior Johannes Veerman will compete as an individual.

“Through two tournaments this spring I really like that we have not shown any quit,” Higgins said. “Our guys battle and battle and battle until the round is over and then we worry about where we are at. I think that part is really good to see.”

The tournament will tee off Friday morning at 10 a.m. (CT) with the Aggies stepping to the tee box alongside golfers from Texas and Texas Tech beginning at 10:27 a.m. Live scoring for the event will be available at GolfStat.com.
