COLLEGE STATION—Texas A&M junior golfer Ty Dunlap was recognized Thursday as one of the ‘Top 50 Male College Players to Watch’ by Golf World.

A year ago, Dunlap helped lead the Aggies into their first season in the highly-competitive Southeastern Conference and flirted with individual medalist honors at the NCAA Championship before finishing in a tie for eighth at five-under par. For the year, Dunlap carded five top-20 finishes en route to garnering honorable mention All-America honors from PING.

Prior to last year’s success, the Westlake, Texas, native enjoyed a strong debut as a freshman for the Aggies. Dunlap finished the 2011-12 season strong, with a second-place effort at the Big 12 Tournament and third-place showing at the NCAA Bowling Green Regional to end the year with six top-20 and three top-five finishes.

Most recently, Dunlap was one of five Aggie golfers who qualified for 113th U.S. Amateur Championship at the Country Club in Brookline, Mass, earlier this summer.

The Golf World list showcased the depth of talent on display in the SEC as a total of 11 golfers from the league were recognized, including All-American and SEC Player of the Year Cory Whitsett of Alabama.

Texas A&M men’s golf hits the links for the first time this season on Sept. 7 as the Aggies travel to the Atlantic Golf Club on Long Island, N.Y., for a dual match with Yale.
