Kliesing Named Volunteer Pitching Coach

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M Softball Head Coach Jo Evans has named former Aggie player and student assistant Rhi Kliesing as the volunteer pitching coach for the 2013 season.

Kliesing spent time in the circle and at first base for the Aggies from 2008-11 and was a student assistant coach under Evans in 2012. The Pearland, Texas, a professional career with the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Diamonds after being chosen as the 19th-overall pick in the 2011 NPF Senior Draft.

"I am excited to welcome Rhi to our coaching staff," Evans said. "She has put her heart and soul into this program for the past five years and has left her mark offensively, defensively, and on the mound. She will do a great job as our pitching coach and will also assist with our hitters. She has spent the past 14 years pitching at all levels and has a clear understanding of the mechanics of pitching and game management. Rhi has a lot of pride in our program and I am excited she is choosing to start her coaching career in Aggieland." 

Kliesing's four seasons on the field with the Aggies earned her National Runner-Up finish in 2008 and four consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament. The pitcher/first baseman is a two-time All-Big 12 selection and was named to the 2010 All-Central Region first team and the 2011 All-College Station Regional team.

The hard-hitter ranks third all-time for career home runs with 41 bombs and ties for fourth in total bases with 339. Her 154 career RBI rank second in the history of the program and her 101 walks drawn are third.

In 2012, Kliesing helped the Aggies to an 11th-straight postseason berth from the dugout as a student assistant coach. She graduated from A&M in May of 2012.
