Lanphear Named ESPNHS Softball Player of the Week

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M softball signee Cali Lanphear was named the ESPNHS Player of the Week in the Midlands region, the national media outlet announced.

Lanphear (Montgomery, Texas) has had an outstanding senior season at Montgomery High School, leading the Bears to the Class 4A State Championship game, in which they fell to Smithson Valley, 9-8. The catcher used a grand slam to complete a 2-0 sweep of Nederland before helping MHS to another sweep, of Manvel, with three hits in one game and two home runs and a double in the next. In a pair of victories over Little-Cypress, Lanphear had a two-run home run in each game. Entering the state semifinals, she had 21 home runs on the season.

The incoming freshman will begin her career with the Aggies when she arrives in College Station this fall The team's first season in the Southeastern Conference is set to begin in February of 2013.
