Softball Ends 2011 Ranked No. 13 in Final Poll

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas A&M softball team ended the 2011 season with a No. 13 national ranking in the final USA Softball/ poll, released by the softball national governing body Tuesday.

The Aggies were 44-15 on the season and participated in their 10th-consecutive NCAA Tournament. After sweeping the College Station Regional, A&M fell to 2011 National Champion Arizona State in two games at the Tempe Super Regional. This marked the first season the Aggies had reached the field of 16 since 2008.

The National Champion Sun Devils claimed the top spot in the poll and were followed by runner-up Florida State, Alabama, Baylor and California in the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Georgia and Stanford, respectively.

Seven Big 12 schools made the list of 25: No. 4 Baylor, No. 6 Missouri, No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 8 Oklahoma State, No. 13 Texas A&M, No. 19 Texas and No. 21 Nebraska.
